This coalition was started by our Founder Tanuja Pandey in August of 2018 with the motto “Voice of Conscience: Protect Biodiversity”. Frustrated by the inaction of Policy makers on climate crisis and massive natural resources extraction and the fact that youth’s concerwere always intentionally unheard in the conversation around environment justice, Tanuja started a sit-in Climate strike, with support of Binod Deuba, by gathering her friends in the street of kathmandu. By the end of the year, young activists across Nepal, from diverse backgrounds, joined them and Harin Nepal had started taking shape. Since then, Harin Nepal has been a prime actor in bringing climate momentum in Nepal.
Because of the support from Public, Harin Nepal was incorporated on 01/10/2021.This coalition has a record of strong coordination, collaboration, networking skills and extensive experience in intersectional climate activism and practice analysis and working with state and non-state actors on climate policy advocacy.
